Mary Beth Chapman
Mary Beth Chapman is the wife of successful Christian singer/song writer that has sold over 9 million albums. They have been married for 25 years and have six children, including three little girls that they adopted from China. They met in college after being assigned the same mailbox because they had the same last name. (Mary Beth’s maiden name was Chapman.)
After years of helping different organizations that were involved in adoption, they adopted the first of three girls from China. Touched and forever transformed by the miracle of adoption, Steven and Mary Beth began the non-profit organization, Show Hope (originally named Shaohannah’s Hope after their first adopted daughter). The ministry is dedicated to caring for the world’s forgotten and abandoned children by providing financial assistance to families wishing to adopt, as well as helping bring awareness and more resources to the ongoing needs of orphans both domestically and internationally.
They adopted Shaohannah in 2000, then Stevey Joy in 2002 and Maria Sue in 2004. Tragically, Maria was accidentally killed when she was run over by their 17 year old son in the families SUV. The accident occurred in their driveway in May 2008. Mary Beth, and her family, has gone on to share their story of guilt, deep sorrow, depression and renewed hope.
This is a families testimony of faith and forgiveness.
