Peter 2:19 A Man Is to Bear-Up

"For it is commendable for a man to bear-up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God." 1 Peter 2:19

Bear-up means to carry ones person. Meaning it is commendable to carry our children through the pain and unjust suffering of autism. To be conscious of God means we are aware of Gods existence.

I quickly learned my pain of having a child with autism would eat me alive if I didn’t turn that pain into power. I need knowledge. Knowledge is power. I know in my heart our son was designed for so much more than what most people see in him. If I don’t take the time, energy and spend the money to realize our sons potential, then that will be a debilitating pain.

Did you know God has twelve different names? Each name describes who He is. One name wouldn’t cover all who God is. Two of the names are very important to you and me. Jehovah-Rophe (found in Exodus 15:26) means “My Healer.” Jehovah-Nissi (found in Exodus 17:15) means “My Victory.” If we want to know our God, the God we’re asking to heal our kids, we need to know all we can about Him. He is the healer and He has a separate name to speak to that part of Him. God always finishes and wins at whatever He sets out to do. Our victory over autism will be because we turned to and trusted Jehovah-Nissi. Our kids will be healed because of Jehovah-Rophe.

God is a very good record keeper. He knows the time that you spend praying, reading, teaching and fighting for your child. All that we do for our children does not go unnoticed by God. God knows the ways that it costs us to press on. All our efforts and love that we put toward our children is exactly what God wants from us. We are to bear up and carry our children. God will supply all that we need to carry on. It takes faith to unpeel the layers that are upon our children. God promises healings, and as sure as I breathe today, I know that each and everyone of our children will someday be healed of autism. When you pray today, address God by one of His names that we talked about today. He will be pleased that you are getting to know Him more intimately. If you stay conscious of God, you can bear-up under the pain and unjust suffering that you are going through. I promise.
