Local-Resources-For-Autism

Some cities have excellent local-resources-for-autism. Support groups, conferences, seminars and more. Other cities are not so lucky. Some places offer nothing to support parents of children who are on the autism spectrum. Unfortunately, my city fell into the latter category when our son was first diagnosed. (Happy to say we have great resources For Autism now!).
Years ago when I started this journey, my outside support, was a group of women that were quite a bit older than myself. Most of them had children that were on the spectrum that were my age. I was uninspired because they were uniformed about treatments available today. I found myself teaching them! I was in no way interested in a pity party and buying into a hopeless future for our son.
The good news for everyone today is that no matter where you live, you have local-resources-for-autism available to help you forge through Autism! You can do a google search for local places. You can ask your school district or speech therapist about what is going on locally. You can ask other parents about what they have found to be helpful.
However, if you cannot find support or you do not have a sitter, you still have one source. That source is God. Read the Bible to learn what it has to say about supporting you. You can supplement your reading with the book, Finding God In Autism.
Here are some more things that you will learn from this book:
√ Learn to be content and what to do if you are weary and burdened.
√ Learn about what God sees in you and your child.
√ Learn what fear is and what it is not.
√ Learn what Grace is and why it is important for you and your child.
√ Learn how to walk through a trial of fire (called autism!) and not get burned.
If you are like me, there are days that I cannot get to a support group. Maybe I am not in the mood to go. Maybe I want specific answers to dealing with my child now. Whatever the reason, I still need support. I need answers. I need to get my strength back. I need to move forward.
My best support ALWAYS comes from God's word. Always. Alone in my pajamas, reading, praying and worshiping God. My direct source. A source that always fills me, always inspires me and never judges me.
If you have outside support, you are blessed. Tap into it! If you do not or if you need more, get the book Finding God In Autism. Let it help to meet your need for local-Resources-for-autism.
